At his inauguration, the Governor highlighted the region’s industrial progress.
«We have ensured steady growth in core sectors, including industry. In 2023, Krasnodar region ranked third nationwide for its industrial policy effectiveness. Known for agriculture and tourism, it is now becoming the industrial hub of southern Russia. We preserved the legendary Sedin Plant, now operating as the Southern Heavy Machine Tool Plant. We also revived the railcar factory in Armavir city. These enterprises are our pride, and we continue to build and expand them for the region, the country, and future generations,» said Veniamin Kondratyev.
In 2015, the Krasnodar region passed its first industrial policy law. In 2018, with support from President Vladimir Putin, the regional Industrial Development Fund was established. It currently holds capital of 10 billion rubles.
Over the past decade, more than 13.8 billion rubles have been invested to develop industry in the region. Industrial shipments grew 2.6 times, reaching around 620 billion rubles by the end of 2024. Tax payments from industrial companies nearly tripled last year, exceeding 23 billion rubles. Manufacturing now accounts for a larger share of the gross regional product than agriculture, historically the backbone of the Krasnodar region.
